West Bengal Budget 2024: WB Govt to initiate 5 lakhs Govt Jobs
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did a masterstroke before the Lok Sabha polls. On the one hand, lakhs of government jobs have been promised in the West Bengal Budget 2024. Similarly, there is provision for increasing the monthly allowance of contractual employees from dearness allowance of government employees. There is good news for the employees of the IT department under the government.
Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya on Thursday said that the budget has many government job resources for the youth of the state. 5 lakh jobs will be created to fill all vacancies in various government and government controlled organizations for youth employment. The opposition has repeatedly complained that the government has stopped recruitment to government posts in the state. Many posts are lying vacant. The state responded to that complaint in this year’s budget. In this context, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “5 lakh boys and girls will be appointed in various departments of the state government, be it teachers, be it police.” Besides, there will be a lot of employment if there are 6 economic corridors under the initiative of the state.
Not only the government jobs, but also the dearness allowance of the government employees has increased. DA Hike is another 4 percent. The monthly allowance of Lakshmir Bhandar has also been doubled to women from underserved communities. The monthly allowance of Janjati women has been increased to rupees 1200. Monthly allowance increased for contractual government employees. According to the budget, the monthly remuneration of contractual group D and group C employees will increase by 3 thousand and 3.5 thousand rupees respectively. As a result, 40,000 workers will benefit. 288 Crores allocated to this sector. Remuneration of IT workers under Govt. has been increased as per category. The new pay structure will come into effect in the new financial year.
The monthly salary of Green Police, Village Police and Civic Volunteers has also been increased. Their allowance increased by 1000 rupees per month. The one-time retirement benefit of Civic Police, Green Police, who are contractual employees has been increased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Besides, the monthly allowance of mid day project cook cum helpers also increased. They used to get 1000 taka for 10 months a year till now. From now on, the state will pay an additional 500 rupees per month. 140 crores will be spent in this sector. 2 lakh 30 thousand cook cum helpers will benefit. All in all, before the Lok Sabha polls, the state government, the opinion of the political circles.
